Vodka
Vodka is a typically colorless liquor, usually distilled from fermented grain or potatoes but also from other
raw materials. It the national drink of Russia and Poland and it is thought that the term is a diminutive of
the Slavic word "voda" for "water."
Except for insignificant amounts of flavorings, vodka consists of water and alcohol (ethanol). Vodka usually
has an alcohol content ranging from 35% to 60% by volume. The classic Russian vodka has about 40% Alc. Vol.
Little is known about the early history and the origin of vodka, but one thinks that it had his origin in Poland
or Russia. Surprisingly until recently there have been no historical investigations on the vodka. Almost all the
investigation on the vodka focus on its consumption and its sale than on its manufacture.
